The program makes it possible to create a digital hair color chart. The user is able to select swatches from a pool of several hunded shades and insert them into the desired rows and columns in the shade chart matrix. Swatches can also be deleted or renamed. The newly created color chart can be saved and later recalled and updated as necessary. All updated copies can also be saved. To use:

The user may either begin with a blank matrix (click on the button on the upper right -New without Template) or he can call up and edit a pre-prepared version (click on - New with Template). According to his requirements, the user can edit the rows and colums of the template: By clicking on a field with the right mouse button the user is given 4 options: 'add new column to the left', 'add new row above', 'delete this column' and 'delete this row'. The user should select the required option with the cursor and click on it with the left mouse button. If a column or row is deleted, the complete contents are also deleted! The user can rename the columns and rows in the color chart according to his wishes. Simply double click on the column header and type in the new text. The action is confirmed with the 'enter' key.
Now you can add, move or delete shades. The available shades are sorted into colored boxes according to the color classification system of Digital HairColor AG. When the user double clicks on an empty field in the color chart, the box overview is opened.

The individual boxes are coloured for the purpose of clarity according to the CIELAB-value (Luminescence 50) and marked with the a + b values (e.g. a +12 | b -4). The figure in the last row of text in the box (e.g. x38) gives the number of shades available in that box. Click on the desired box to open it and the relevant shades are displayed. Each shade has its own identification number. By clicking on the required shade, it is automatically carried over into the empty field in the color chart. The selected box will stay open until the user clicks on 'back' or 'cancel'. The user should then move to and double click on a new empty field to select the next shade from the box or the old shade will be deleted. To delete a shade from the color chart, simply click on the shade and press the 'Del' key. To move a shade in the color chart, click on it with the left mouse button and drag it to the new position. The user can also add or change the color of the column header. By holding the 'Ctrl' key pressed and clicking with the left mouse button on the chosen shade in the same column, the column header takes on the color of the Lab-value of the box from which the shade comes. The user can save a copy of his color chart for further amendment und updating by clicking on the button 'Save under'. The newly designed digital color chart can only be called up by the user. Other users have their own memory and no access to other work.
